Hello once again, patrons! I’m your guest host, GoodJamags, and I’m back with A NEW GUEST!

*Waits for the lack of applause to die down*

*Applause continues not happening*

As our regular superhero riff feature, I felt we should let an actual superhero or two or seven join in on the fun.

Captain Argo: You have a fascinating definition of “fun.”

Be nice.

Patrons, this is Captain Argo! The good Captain comes from the same mildly kitchen-sinky original setting as Eagirl from my last Christmas riff.

Captain Argo: You made Anna sit through one of these things?

Don’t worry about it, she was only mildly traumatized.

Captain Argo’s real name is Mary McMahon. She was an insurance investigator in Los Angeles who met and fell in love with archaeologist Jason Petropoulos while investigating a series of museum thefts. Jason was initially a suspect, his whereabouts being unaccounted for during most of the thefts, but Mary determined that he wasn’t the thief, but rather the superhero trying to stop the thefts: The original Captain Argo. Petropoulos had discovered a cloak made from the Golden Fleece that gave the wearer the powers of invulnerability, rapid healing, super strength, and flight. The two were engaged, but then tragedy struck. Despite being, as far as anyone could tell, invulnerable while wearing the cloak, Captain Argo was killed in battle with the ancient sorcerer Malachi Hand. Mary, anxious for revenge, took up Petropoulos’ cloak and codename, and formed the superhero team Project Nimbus with help from a mysterious spymaster codenamed Tiresias.

The good of this is that she’s a decisive leader, one of the team’s heavy-hitters, and the Captain Argo name and costume are well-known and respected. The bad is that Mary had anger management issues even before the brutal and unsolved murder of her fiance, making her extremely abrasive and demanding. Argo’s old friends Doctor Crucible and Star Ranger resent, to varying degrees, her use of the original Captain Argo’s name and costume (which is to say that Star Ranger has pretty much gotten over herself, while Doctor Crucible isn’t exactly a paragon of social grace himself and is quite adept at holding a grudge). The newer members of the team are more open to-

Captain Argo: By “more open,” he means that Helioman likes to play diplomat, Eagirl is an adorable Teddy bear who doesn’t know how to resent people, the Silhouetted Man is equally grim and spooky and stoic with everyone, and Tyrian is a horndog.

That… about sums it up, yeah.

Captain Argo: If we’re done with my life’s story, can we make fun of this bad fanfic?

Got it.
