Hello guys, and welcome to today’s Sunday Special.
Well, I felt in the mood to look for some Hunger Games fanfic to find something in another canon that I could snark at. So while looking for stuff, I encountered this fic.
Now, what is this fic, you might ask? Well, it’s a rather hilarious take on the Mary Sue as it applies to the Hunger Games continuum. How does it work?
Well, allow me to show you how.

So we’re back in the crossover section today with quite a doozy: a triple crossover that makes no sense at all! Let’s take a look a look at the summary, which really tells us all we need to know:
Dumbledore, Gandalf, and Jay Gatsby? What the heck?
Yup, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and The Great Gatsby all in one fic. I can see combining HP and LotR, though it’s not very original. Combining either with Gatsby seems a bit odd, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done well.
This fic, however, is well summed-up by the author’s “What the heck?” If you’re asking that about your own work, maybe it’s a bad idea.
Just a thought.
Here’s the fic: Read the rest of this entry »

Warning: For our 100th post, your librarians decided to give you, Gentle Readers, a glimpse at the sort of pigs’-wallow we’re forced to wade through on a semi-daily basis. Some of this is exaggerated. Sadly, a lot of it isn’t. *raises up a glass of bubbly* Here’s to another 100 snarkalicious riffs!

I’m not certain what is more disturbing about this fic: the fact that it’s a fanfiction based on the children’s television program Blue’s Clues or… no that’s probably the most disturbing part. It’s a fanfiction… of Blue’s Clues.
Blue’s Clues, for those without toddlers and are unfamiliar with the source material, is a show on PBS about a grown man (live action) that lives in a cartoon house (green-screen-a-rific) with a sentient blue dog. Every day, they play a game called “Blue’s Clues” in order to figure out what it is that Blue, the dog, is trying to relate to Steve (in the first seasons) or Joe (Steve’s younger brother who takes over when Steve goes to college in later seasons). The game consists of three clues throughout the house and surrounding yard. When they find a clue, they draw it in their Handy Dandy Notebook. After all three clues are found, they sit in the Thinking Chair and figure it out. Toddlers love this. My son is on episode 118.
Anyway, the house is filled with other sentient objects (Salt and Pepper Shakers, Tickety the Clock, Side Table, Mailbox, Shovel and Pail, Slippery the Soap Bar…) and there are sentient animals that come over to visit, such as Periwinkle, the cat that can actually speak English.
Now, I realize that this fic is labled as a parody. Unlike other parodies we’ve seen here (such as the one highlighted yesterday) this fic actually sucks. It deserves to be here if only because it’s a fricking fanfiction of the children’s television program Blue’s Clues. Let’s dive in, shall we?
